About Travis

A Story of Horses and Cameras

Travis Trewin is an experienced videographer with a considerable equine background.

Travis grew up on acreage in Harkaway and Upper Beaconsfield during the 1980′s.  His mother, Trish, has been besotted by horses since she was a child, so it was only natural that Travis and his three brothers attended Upper Beaconsfield Pony Club to share in her passion.  Trish became District Commissioner of Upper Beaconsfield Pony Club and Examining Secretary of the West Gippsland Zone.  Travis spent years training and competing on his pony before his competitive cross country running took precedence. Later he would return to horse riding as part of the Modern Pentathlon, which encompasses swimming, cross country running, fencing, pistol shooting and showjumping. His younger brother, Brad, would go on to become a World Cup level showjumper.

Travis graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography in 1994 and proceeded to work as a freelance commercial photographer’s assistant before migrating to Brisbane in 1997 to study film and television production.  After graduating with a Diploma in Film Production he then moved to the Gold Coast in 1999 to work as a motion picture camera assistant on international productions, as a cinematographer on smaller film and corporate projects, and was invited to teach at a film school in Brisbane.

In 2008 Travis and his late wife, Diana, formed their own film school on the Gold Coast; International Film College.  It operated as a boutique Registered Training Organisation to both local and international students, teaching Certificate II through to Advanced Diploma in Screen and Media.

Travis moved back to Melbourne in 2012 and was offered a camera operator’s position on Australia’s longest running television soap, Neighbours.  He continues to offer his services as a freelance cinematographer, builds websites, and manages social media for a variety of clients.  He has a wealth of knowledge in all areas of film production and a thorough understanding of equine competition.  It is this combination of skills that enables Travis to offer unique services to the equine industries.
